Pricing Philosophy
High quality, not high mark-ups
From day one, the idea behind DACHS was simple: build a cycling brand that values quality over hype, fair prices over fake discounts, and long-lasting gear instead of disposable trends.
We believe good products should be worth their price every day of the year, not just when a countdown timer is running. Our prices do not fluctuate and we do not put on big mark-ups. As such, we do not offer regular sales.
You can trust the price, just as you can trust the quality.
Buy once, use forever
We invest in quality, making products that are robust and reliable. They are made from premium materials, developed over an extended time period, and tested on real bike rides.
Each product starts with a series of questions:
- What do cyclists need?
- What is currently available?
- What can be improved?
From there, development begins. We test carefully and critically. We evaluate each feature, deciding which genuinely enhances performance and which only adds unnecessary cost.
At the end of the process, we have a product we are proud to put our name on, and even prouder of after years of being used.
Real company, real costs
DACHS is not a faceless corporation or a drop-shipping platform. We develop products and have them manufactured to our specification. We operate from a garage in Potsdam, Germany, where all products are stored, then inspected and packed by us before shipment.
Product Cost = Development + Manufacturing + Import + Inspection + Shipping + Tax
Small company, big overheads
We operate differently from many online brands. We pay German taxes, register properly for all required EPR schemes and certifications, invest in compliance and product responsibility, and honour guarantees and warranties.
However, this means our overheads are real — and really high.
Instead of cutting corners, we work smarter.
Focus over excess
Rather than offering multiple similar products, we focus on a limited range and refine each product for its intended use. By concentrating on fewer, better-developed items, we can create products that are perfectly suited to their purpose.
This is a win-win, as it also keeps manufacturing costs lower than if we were ordering lots of variations or versions. We can order larger quantities of fewer products, securing fair manufacturing prices at consistent quality. We then pass those savings on to you.

Honest pricing
We price our products to reflect the real cost of developing and manufacturing them—not simply the price we think customers will pay or the price other brands suggest they should cost.
Although some of our prices may seem higher than those of other products on the market, our products are made to a higher standard. We believe that when a product is reliable, long-lasting and enjoyable to use, it continues to represent good value long after it has been purchased.
We are not fans of inflating prices so that we can regularly offer large discounts. Instead, we keep our prices stable, fair and honest throughout the year.
Our products are designed to stand the test of time rather than change every season. We manufacture in larger quantities, keep our team and distribution structure small, and avoid unnecessary spending on excessive marketing or business consultants.
All of this helps us offer the best price we reasonably can from the beginning.
When do we offer discounts?
We do not use regular sales, artificial countdowns or constantly changing prices that promote fast purchases. However, there are occasions when a genuine price reduction makes practical sense.
Final-stock price reductions
We operate from a garage with real shelves and limited storage space. When we are running low on a product and plan to replace, improve or discontinue it, we may reduce the price of the remaining stock to make space for what comes next.
Black Week sale
In recent years, we have also offered an end-of-season sale during Black Week. This was not based on an inflated starting price or a marketing strategy designed to create urgency. It was practical shelf management before new products arrived.
We did not discount to create urgency. We discounted to create space.
Everything you need + more if you want it
Not every cyclist wants or needs the same level of performance. That is why we divide selected DACHS accessories and clothing into two lines:
- Essential
- Advanced
Our Essential line focuses on the features that matter most. These products are designed to outperform other cycling gear in their price category by getting the fundamentals right: dependable materials, practical functionality and reliable performance over time.
Our Advanced line starts with the same strong foundations, then goes a step further. These products may use more technical materials, refined construction or additional performance-focused features without being restricted by a lower target price.
Essential is designed to provide everything most riders need. Advanced is for cyclists who are happy to pay a little more to gain a little more.
